About Nordland Research Institute

Nordland Research Institute is Norway's only social science research institute with both ownership and headquarters in the North. We are a leading research environment and a sought-after knowledge provider locally, nationally and internationally.

Our research is used in studies, plans and decision-making processes – often as a central knowledge base. With roots in the High North, we shed light on major societal issues related to restructuring, innovation and sustainable development.

Our Researchers Leads interdisciplinary projects in close collaboration with societal actors across sectors. Nordland Research Institute was established in Bodø in 1979, and today also has offices in Bodø, Svolvær, Mo i Rana and Oslo.
