As part of the framework agreement between Nordland Research Institute and Nordland County Municipality on Youth Inclusion, carries out Nordland Research Institute a pilot project on apprentices and trainee candidates and dropouts. The goal is to gain more knowledge about the underlying reasons why apprentices and trainee candidates between the ages of 16 and 24 interrupt their apprenticeship contracts.
We want to interview both apprentices/apprentice candidates who have had ordinary apprenticeship contracts (2 years in school/2 years in a company) and apprentices/apprentice candidates who have interrupted their contract with full training in a company. The pilot project will focus, among other things, on the informants' experience of the follow-up they have received during the course.
As part of the project, the Nordland Research Institute also evaluate the project Holistic Follow-up (HOL) under the auspices of Nordland County Council. This is a project that is about developing and implementing routines for systematic follow-up of students, apprentices and teaching candidates. There are currently eight upper secondary schools that are involved in HOL. A key goal of the evaluation is to assess the usefulness and relevance of the measures in Holistic Follow-up (HOL) in relation to goal achievement (effect on dropouts and completion). The project will be implemented during 2025.
