Living conditions among queers

Pågående

This project is about mapping living conditions among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Norway.

The project "Living conditions among queer people" has two parts: 1) a quantitative survey on living conditions among queer people compared to heterosexual/cis people. 2) A qualitative interview study of living conditions among bisexual people.

Nordland Research Institute and Fafo are carrying out the project on behalf of the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs. The project is based on similar living conditions surveys from 2013 and 2020.

The purpose of the project is to provide updated knowledge about living conditions among queer people in Norway, compared to 2013 and 2020, and compared to countries in the EU. Furthermore, the purpose is to investigate what can explain why bisexual men and women report worse living conditions than heterosexuals, lesbians and gays.
