Senior researcher with expertise in welfare research, social housing policy and co-creation in the public sector
Trond Bliksvær is a senior researcher at Nordland Research Institute with a doctorate in sociology and professorial qualifications in social work. He has extensive experience in research on the development of the welfare state, particularly focused on services for vulnerable groups, housing policy and cooperation between the public sector and civil society. Bliksvær has been a central player in Norwegian welfare research for several decades, and has led a number of research projects funded by both the Research Council of Norway and public authorities.
Competence
Trond has broad methodological and thematic expertise within welfare and social research. His research focuses on, among other things, the inclusion of vulnerable young people, social housing innovation, public health, disability and children and young people at risk. He has a particular interest in how collaboration and co-creation can be used as strategies for better public services.
He is proficient in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Trond also has extensive experience in project management, research supervision, and assessment work within academia.
Education and work experience
Trond holds a PhD in sociology from NTNU (2005), and a Master of Arts in sociology from the University of Oslo (1995), where he specialized in welfare state and social policy. He was assessed as a professor in social work in 2016 at Nord University.
He has been employed by Nordland Research Institute since 1997, and has held positions at both NOVA and Valnesfjord Health Sports Center. He has also been a professor at Nord University and has held a number of leadership roles, including as research leader and coordinator of national competence networks and research groups.
Projects and publications
Trond has led a large number of research projects over the past 20 years, including on crisis center services, social housing innovation, participation in welfare services, aging in rural areas and services for people with disabilities. The projects have been supported by, among others, Bufdir, Husbanken, the Directorate of Health and the Research Council of Norway.
He has published widely – both scientific articles, books, book chapters and public reports. Among his most recent works are analyses of parent support measures at crisis centers, evaluations of Sami competence centers and research collaborations on health and care services in the Nordic countries. Trond is also co-editor of several professional books on leisure and inclusion.
Lectures and dissemination
Trond is an active researcher and has given lectures to both academic circles, decision-makers and professionals in the public sector. He has been an invited speaker at conferences on welfare, co-creation, disability and social housing work. His experience from teaching and supervision at universities and colleges has given him broad competence as a knowledge communicator, both in education and in policy development.
