NASAK had its start-up year in 2022, and the research project will follow the center through 2023 and 2024.

The starting point for the follow-up research project is that Bufdir has been commissioned to further develop the Regional Sami Competence Center (RESAK) into a national Sami competence center for municipal and state child welfare, family welfare and crisis center services (NASAK).

The main problem in the research project is twofold: How does NASAK work to fulfill its mandate to strengthen the quality of services' work with Sami children, adults and families? And: To what extent is NASAK designed in an appropriate way to achieve its mandate? The evaluation will include both NASAK's national function and interdisciplinary nature.

The project is part of the R&D project "Developing equal and effective measures against violence and discrimination", which Fafo, NOVA, and Nordland Research Institute carried out in collaboration, on behalf of the Directorate of Children, Youth and Family Affairs.
