The purpose of ACCESSTOUR is to increase knowledge about sustainable local communities and nature-based tourism destinations.

The project will uncover and promote the potential for value creation. A more accessible tourism can help set a new direction for tourism destinations that are struggling in the wake of Covid-19, and for destinations and local communities that want more sustainable destination development.

Accessible tourism can help attract new target groups to the destinations they serve. Examples include seniors, people with disabilities, and families with young children. Accessible experiences can attract a greater number of guests from markets closer to the destination. Combined with a stronger focus on local, regional, national, and near-international markets, more accessible tourism can help reduce tourism's carbon footprint and improve public health, quality of life, and thus the desire to live in the area.
