Raj Kumar Thapa is a senior researcher at Nordland Research Institute . His research interests include innovation studies, social innovation and entrepreneurship, responsible innovation, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, technology innovation and sustainability transition. He has extensive teaching experience. Before joining the Nordland Research Institute Raj worked as a researcher at the Genøk Centre for Biosecurity (now merged into NORCE). There, he worked in the NewHoRRIzon project leading two different social laboratories: Future and Emerging Technologies (FET), and Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy (FOOD). He facilitated Researchers and stakeholders could develop pilot activities to integrate responsible research and innovation (RRI) into research and innovation projects.

Raj holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from MG University Kerala, India, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from BI Norwegian School of Business and a Master of Science ( M.Sc. ) in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from BI. He holds a PhD in Responsible Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the University of Stavanger.
