TallWood is a development project funded by Interreg Nord, the County Governor of Nordland and Gildeskål Municipality with the aim of developing knowledge and experience in the use of wood and solid wood (CLT) as a building material in larger buildings, in combination with other materials.

The goal is to contribute to increased use of wood as a building material and reduce the climate footprint in the construction industry. It will also provide a basis for increased harvesting of forest resources in Nordland with significant potential for regional value creation.

The project is a collaboration between companies and R&D partners in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Oulu University, Department of Applied Sciences (OUAS) is the project leader in Finland, while Luleå University of Technology and Nordland Research Institute are R&D partners in Sweden and Norway. In Nordland, they collaborate Nordland Research Institute with suppliers/construction contractors and building owners on the implementation of deliveries of three such pilot buildings where experiences and documentation from the construction process and finished deliveries form the basis for communication to commercial players in the construction industries, advice and construction case processing. Cooperation has also been established between companies across national borders in order to benefit from each other's expertise and experiences in the work of promoting sustainable growth and increased value creation of forest resources in Nordland.

TallWood also collaborates with the Smart Construction Cluster with members from the construction industries in Alta and Tromsø, and with the Interreg Nord project Digi AEC, which focuses on cooperation on digitalization in the construction industry between partners in the same countries. In parallel, TallWood will aim to contribute to the mobilization of network and cluster cooperation among companies in the construction and construction industry in Nordland in collaboration with the construction and construction cluster "Smart Construction Cluster" (Finnmark/Troms) and the Interreg Nord project "Digi AEC", which focuses on the use of visualization and digitalization in the construction value chain.
