Indu-Zero will provide the answer to how existing residential buildings can be renovated to a 0 energy standard. This is done by developing building modules integrated with energy, ventilation and electrical installations that are mounted without on existing buildings. Furthermore, a production design is being developed that ensures the cost of a complete renovation of a standard home is halved.
Older housing stock that is often poorly insulated with high energy losses represents a major challenge when communities, and not least cities, are to reduce their climate emissions. If we do not increase the renovation rate of older homes, it will be difficult to achieve the climate goals we are committed to. In Northern Europe, 22 million houses are to be renovated over the course of just over ten years. In Norway, there is a need to renovate 810,000 homes. The Indu-Zero project will solve this challenge and develop building modules integrated with energy, ventilation and electrical installations that are mounted on existing buildings. At the same time, a robotic industrialization design is being developed that will reduce renovation costs for homeowners to half of today's level. This will generate a market push that is a prerequisite for mass production. Indu Zero will therefore also develop business models for the establishment of building element factories in the partner countries.
