Shift-Plastics International Perspectives Report

The Shift-Plastics project explores how sustainable circular value chains can be developed to manage plastic use in fisheries and aquaculture, focusing on technological innovation, policy reform, and stakeholder collaboration. Through case studies from Scotland, Denmark, and Canada, the report highlights shared challenges such as ghost gear, inadequate recycling infrastructure, and fragmented responsibility across the value chain. It concludes that coordinated international efforts, adaptive governance, and inclusive stakeholder engagement are essential to effectively reduce marine plastic pollution in these sectors.
