Key qualifications

Julia Olsen has been working at Nordland Research Institute after completing two Master degrees, in Sustainable Management (University of Nordland, Norway) and in Economics of Oil and Gas Companies (Ukhta State Technical University, Russia).

The primary research areas of her work are local community’s vulnerability and socio-economic adaptation to multiple changes in the Arctic, including climatic changes. Currently she is a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Social Science at Nord University.  The main objective of her work is to assess the impact of increased shipping activities in the Barents Sea on local coastal communities and understand what the implications are for local adaptation and adaptive capacity.

Julia Olsen worked with the project prior her PhD and contributed with media search and analysis on local perception of petroleum exploration outside Lofoten Archipelago.
